Check-in for all races starts at 8:30 AM. All racers should be ready to go by 9:00 AM near the start line. Kids' fun runs and 5K walkers will begin at 9:00 AM, and once the kids' 100-meter dash and fun run are completed, 5K runners will begin around 9:30 AM. View (PDF) the map of the race.
5K Registration Fees: If you are participating in the walk, your start time will be 9:00 a.m.
Kids' (<10) Fun Runs Registration Fees:
Age groups for the fun run: The kids' dash and the 0.62 around the lake are fun, untimed dashes for our kiddos ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, and there is an option to add a youth-sized shirt ($10.00) and medal ($5.00)! (If your child wants to run the kids' dash and doesn't want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!) The swag will be given out during packet pickup on Friday, October 9.
Chip Timing: Each 5K participant will have their run/walk chip timed.
Course Maps: Maps for the 5K and kids' fun runs are posted above.
Packets: We encourage participants to pick up their packets on Friday, October 9, from 4-6 p.m. at Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway, Johnston, IA. If you cannot pick them up on Friday, packets will be available on race morning.
Mayor's Run Branded Items: T-shirts and medals will be available for purchase only through online pre-registration.
Food: Bagels, water, and fruit will be available after the race to enjoy.
Photos: Runners will be photographed during the event. We encourage you to take a selfie and tag us using #MayorsRunforTrails2026.
Prizes by Age Group: Only 5K runners are eligible for the age group winners. Top prizes are awarded to females and males in specific age groups.
