Endurance Grid lets you publish an athlete profile. If you choose to make your profile public, the information on it — your display name, photo, sports, and anything you write or link to — is displayed on our Website where anyone can see it, and may be indexed by search engines and AI answer engines. We may also share those pages when we promote Endurance Grid.
You choose what goes on your profile and how much of your name to show. You can make your profile private at any time, and we will stop displaying it — but search engines and other services may keep cached copies for a period of time afterward, and anyone who saw it may have copied it. Content you share inside a private group is not published on your profile.
We may combine or de-identify the information we collect — including quiz and survey responses — so that it no longer identifies you. We may use, retain, and share this aggregated or de-identified information for any purpose, including to analyze trends; create benchmarks, reports, and insights about endurance athletes and their preferences; improve and develop our services; and publish or share those insights. Aggregated and de-identified information is not personal information, and we do not attempt to re-identify it.
You can create an account on our website and mobile application. When you do, we collect the information needed to set up and secure your account — such as your name, email address, account name, and age — and we use a third-party authentication provider to sign you in and keep your account secure. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
Our website and mobile application may let you post content — such as comments, activity updates, and photographs — and interact with other people. Content you post may be visible to others, so please do not include anything you consider private. We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that violate our Terms of Service, in our sole discretion.
We may combine content shared in a group — such as photos, notes, workouts, and comments — into recaps or stories that we show to that group.
When you post a link in a group or a message, our servers visit the linked page to create a preview with its title, description, and image, and store that preview. The linked website receives the request from our servers, not from your device. We also send each link to a security service provider, which checks it against a list of websites known to be unsafe, so that we can warn you before you open a link it flags.
When you log a workout or a race, you can tag people from your groups or connections who trained with you. We notify the person you tag, and they can accept or decline. If they accept, your workout is linked to their own workout and appears in both of your histories, in your shared history together, and in groups you are both in. Each of you keeps your own workout and its details. Either of you can remove the link at any time.
People in a group can invite others to it. If someone invites you by email, we receive your email address from them. We store it with the invitation and use it to send you the invitation email through our email service provider.
If you already have an account, we may also show you the invitation in the app and send you a push notification. People in the group who can invite others can see who was invited, who sent the invitation, and when. The group's owner can also see who invited each person who joins.
You can connect with other athletes on Endurance Grid. You can send a request to someone, who will decide whether to accept the request. We store who is connected with whom and use it to let connected athletes collaborate.
If you share your QR code or your connect link, anyone who scans the code or opens the link can see your name and profile photo and ask to connect with you. You can reset your code at any time, which stops the old code and link from working.
Connected athletes can send each other direct messages, including photos. We store direct messages so both people in the conversation can read them, and we may review a message if it is reported to us. If you delete a conversation, it is removed only for you; the other person can still see it.
If you use our mobile application, we may send you push notifications — for example, reminders and updates about your account, races, or activity. To deliver them, we share your device's push notification token and the notification's content — which may include a name and a short preview of a message or activity — with push notification providers. You can turn push notifications off at any time in your device's system settings, or in the application's notification settings where available.
When a page displays a map, the map tiles are loaded from CARTO (a third-party map provider) using OpenStreetMap data. To deliver those tiles, CARTO's servers receive your device's IP address — as happens whenever your browser loads content from a third party. On race detail pages, we also look up the coordinates of the race venue address through OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service so we can place the venue on the map; only the venue address is sent, and the result is cached briefly in your own browser.
Separately, we enrich race facts (locations, elevation, weather, and climate normals) using public data from the US Census Bureau, USGS, and the National Weather Service / NOAA. These sources are queried with race information only and receive no personal information about you.
We embed videos from YouTube using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (a Google service) receives your device's IP address and device/online identifiers and may set cookies in order to deliver and measure the video. This is a sharing of that information with our video provider so the videos work.
Our mobile application shows advertisements served through Google AdMob, Google's mobile advertising network. To show and measure ads, AdMob receives your IP address; device identifiers, including your device's advertising identifier where your device settings allow it; information about your device and the application; the address of the page you are viewing in the application, such as a race page; and information about your interactions with the ads. Google may use this information to build or update an interest profile and to show you ads based on it, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Under privacy law this sharing is a "sale" of personal information, which we disclose in the "Sale of your information" section below.
You can limit how this information is used. On iPhone, the application asks for your permission before your device's advertising identifier is shared; if you choose Ask App Not to Track, it is not shared and the ads you see are not personalized. You can change this at any time in your iPhone's Settings. On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your device's settings. Where state privacy law gives you the right to opt out, the application's Settings include Your Privacy Choices, where you can opt out of this sale and sharing. When you are not signed in, the ads you see are not personalized.
You can remove ads from the mobile application with a monthly or yearly subscription. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which collect and process your payment under their own terms and privacy policies; we do not receive your payment card details. We use a subscription service provider to confirm your purchase with Apple or Google and keep your subscription status up to date. It receives your account identifiers, the subscription you bought, its price and renewal dates, and your device's IP address when the application checks your purchase. We store whether your subscription is active so that ads are off wherever you are signed in.
We operate a branded merchandise store through a third-party provider, Fourthwall. When you make a purchase there, Fourthwall collects the details needed to fulfill your order — including your name, email address, and shipping address — and makes them available to us as the store's operator. We may use your email address to send you marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — payment is processed by Fourthwall, whose own privacy policy governs how it handles your information.
A note on the word "sell": Privacy laws define "sell" very broadly. It includes letting the advertising network in our mobile application (Google AdMob) receive identifiers and information about how you use the application so it can show ads and we can earn advertising revenue. The law requires us to disclose that, which we do below.
