CTX Wrestling Presents: Mats to Mud Obstacle 5K + Youth 1 Mile is an obstacle course race on October 24, 2026 in Hutto, TX.
From the Organizer
OFF THE MAT. INTO THE DIRT + MUD FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF WRESTLERS.
This one is for the wrestlers, the families, the runners, the competitors—and anyone ready to get outside, get a little dirty, and have some fun for a great cause.
Join us for the CTX USA Wrestling Mats to Mud Obstacle 5K + Youth 1 Mile, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser supporting Central Texas USA Wrestling.
Hit the dirt trails, tackle five wrestling-inspired challenges and obstacles, take on the elevation changes, embrace the natural terrain, and yes...plan to get a little muddy along the way!
But this isn't just about crossing the finish line.
It's an opportunity to build camaraderie, get together off the mat, challenge yourself in a different way, and have some fun while giving back to the wrestling community we love.
EVERY DOLLAR FUELS CENTRAL TEXAS WRESTLING.
All proceeds support the CTX USA Wrestling Scholarship Fund and club support, helping provide financial assistance to wrestlers for things like:
USA Wrestling memberships/cards
Wrestling shoes
Tournament registration
Other participation needs that help keep athletes on the mat
Support for our Central Texas wrestling clubs
When you run, you help another wrestler keep going.
THE MATS TO MUD OBSTACLE 5K
Check-In: 8:00 AM
Race Start: 9:00 AM
This is not your average 5K.
Our trails are natural, unimproved dirt trails—meaning you can expect uneven terrain, elevation changes, rocks, roots, loose dirt, and whatever else nature has in store that day.
Along the approximately 5K course, you'll encounter five wrestling-inspired physical challenges and obstacles designed to get you moving, working, laughing, and maybe talking a little trash with your friends along the way.
Expect:
🤼 Wrestling-inspired challenges
🌳 Natural dirt trails
⛰️ Elevation changes
💪 Physical obstacles
🧠 A little strategy
👟 A lot of movement
🟤 A little mud
😂 A whole lot of fun
The Obstacle 5K is open to anyone but is best suited for participants who are comfortable running or completing a 5K distance and taking on physical challenges along the way.
Suggested age: 13+.
Younger participants may participate with a parent/guardian's discretion and appropriate supervision.
Come ready to challenge yourself. Leave with muddy shoes and a good story.
YOUTH 1 MILE
Start: 9:30 AM
The Youth 1 Mile is designed for our younger athletes, ages 10 and under.
A great opportunity for kids to get outside, move their bodies, experience the excitement of race day, and be part of the cause!
Whether they're wrestlers or simply ready to run, all kids are welcome.
THESE SHOES HAVE A STORY
POST-RACE WRESTLING SHOE SWAP
Don't throw those old wrestling shoes away just yet!
After the race, stick around for our Wrestling Gear Swap. Bring your worn, loved, but still in good condition wrestling shoes to donate, trade, or pass along to another wrestler.
Before you bring them, we encourage you to take a moment to share their story and can find THESE SHOES Cards on the trade-in table.
“THESE SHOES...”
Finish the sentence:
These shoes...
-Were my first pair.
Maybe you've simply outgrown them—and now it's time for another wrestler to make their own memories in them.
Write your answer down and attach it to the shoes you're donating.
We want to celebrate the stories they've already carried—and send them off to help carry another wrestler forward.
Because sometimes, passing something down means passing something on.
THE FUN DOESN'T STOP AT THE FINISH LINE
Stick around after your race and enjoy the full Mats to Mud experience!

Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it’s the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer’s event page.
Obstacle course races combine running with walls, rope climbs, carries, and mud — testing strength, grip, endurance, and mental toughness all at once.
No two races feel the same, and it is a truly unique endurance sport.
Obstacle course races (OCR) combine running over different terrain with a series of physical obstacles — walls, rope climbs, monkey bars, carries, and crawls. The barrier to entry is lower than it looks.
