From the Organizer
The Heroes Run is a community based benefit race, with all proceeds donated to local non profits dedicated to supporting the mental health of South Florida's First Responders.
Every day, South Florida’s first responders and stand at the forefront of our community’s toughest moments, carrying burdens most of us will never see. Their courage is visible; their silent battles—the stress, trauma, and emotional toll that linger long after the sirens fade—often are not.
The Heroes Run, is more than a race—it’s a lifeline. On November 28th, 2026, in Pompano Beach, Florida, we will come together to honor those who give so much and to raise critical funds for organizations providing essential mental health services for first responders and their families.
Your participation helps us heal the healers, support the protectors, and show these heroes they are never alone. Together, we can turn gratitude into action and empathy into a movement—powered by the courageous spirits of the men and women who keep our community safe.
This event will feature a 5K and 10K race, a 1 Mile Fun Run , and a Free Community Kids Run. The 5k and 10k course distances will be certified. We will be welcoming runners, walkers, and spectators from across the region. Participants will include members of our local running community as well as First Responders from Police, Fire Rescue, Ocean Rescue, Military, and more.
All proceeds will be donated to the following 501(c)3 non profit organizations:
South Florida First Responders Foundation
Stomping Out the Stigma – Provides free, confidential mental health counseling for First Responders and Military Personnel. No names, no insurance, no reports—just help.
First Responders Foundation (Florida Chapter) – Rescues and Trains shelter dogs to become Service Animals for First Responders in need.
The Broward County Sheriff's Foundation
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Benevolent Association
Pompano Beach Ocean Rescue Benevolent Association
All of these organizations directly assist First Responders and their families during times of hardship and crisis.

From Endurance Grid
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
The 10K is the distance where running stops feeling like a starting point and starts feeling like a sport. Long enough to require a real training block. Short enough that race day is fully manageable for a first-timer who's put in the work.
Race day energy at a 10K is community at its best — strangers cheering you by name, people moving toward the same goal, an atmosphere that solo training can't replicate. It's fast enough that you'll spend the whole race pushing rather than managing your effort.
This is also the distance that builds the base for everything else. Most athletes who go on to run half marathons, do triathlons, or compete in HYROX started here. What you need: running shoes fitted to your stride, a training plan, and the race on your calendar. The registration is what makes the deadline real.
How long to train: 4–8 weeks for most fitness levels.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
