Welcome to The Jailbreak Adventure Race, where the infamous legend of Escape from Alcatraz comes to life across the rugged landscape surrounding Lake Georgetown. Whether you're making your first daring escape or you're a hardened veteran of adventure racing, you'll face a relentless test of paddling, trekking, and mountain biking through rocky hills, twisting trails, and open-water crossings in your bid for freedom.
But don't expect guards to leave the gates unlocked. There are no marked routes and no easy way out. Your only tools are your map, your compass, your teammates, and your determination. Every decision matters. Every checkpoint brings you one step closer to freedom—or one mistake closer to capture.

Teams of 2–4 escapees may compete in Male, Female, or Mixed divisions as they plot their route to freedom. Solo escape attempts require approval from race officials and previous adventure racing experience. A special honor awaits the fastest Senior Escape Crew (all team members age 50 or older), proving that experience can still outsmart the toughest prison ever built.

The sirens are sounding. The clock is ticking.  The escape begins February 20, 2027.

The Sheriff's Sprint – 6 Hours
Every great escape begins with one bold step.
Whether you're attempting your first prison break or you're a seasoned escape artist looking for a fast route to freedom, the Sheriff's Sprint is your chance to make it off the Rock. This 6-hour adventure is designed for beginners and experienced racers alike, combining straightforward navigation with nonstop action. You'll bike scenic roads and beginner-friendly trails, trek across rugged terrain, and paddle the open waters in your daring escape from Alcatraz.
Think you've got more left in the tank? Optional checkpoints offer the opportunity to extend your escape and rack up bonus points. The route rewards teamwork, endurance, and speed—not expert navigation—making it the perfect introduction to adventure racing. Beat the clock, evade capture, and make your getaway before time runs out.

The Outlaw Extreme – 12 Hours
Not every prisoner makes it off the island... but legends are the ones who do.
The Outlaw Extreme is a 12-hour test of endurance, strategy, and determination for racers ready to attempt the impossible. Your team will navigate challenging trails, rugged jeep roads, demanding treks, and open-water paddling as you search for checkpoints scattered across the course. Every mile pushes you farther from Alcatraz—and closer to freedom—but nothing comes easy.
The checkpoints are visible, yet every one must be earned through grit, smart decisions, and relentless effort. As daylight fades, headlamps come alive and the escape enters its most challenging chapter. Darkness, fatigue, and determination separate those who merely race from those who conquer.
