Running of the Bulls 5k

The 10th Annual Running of the Bulls 5k will be held Saturday, January 23, 2027!

Please join us this winter to celebrate 10 YEARS of The Running of the Bulls 5k! Our amazing community has helped us grow this event bigger and bigger every year, and we cannot wait to see how you show up even bigger for year 10!

The Running of the Bulls 5k is hosted at Bloomingdale High School and participants are welcome to run or walk this timed race. Participants will receive a race shirt, a bib, and a bag of goodies from our sponsors. Finishers will receive a medal. We also hold a fun, untimed ½ mile run/walk on the track. Half mile participants receive a medal but do not receive a shirt or bib.

Thank you for being part of the ever growing Running of the Bulls 5k! Our race supports Bloomingdale High School students through sponsoring the Bloomingdale Rajun’ Bull Band and two scholarships for Bloomingdale High School seniors. This is an event that so many look forward to each year, and we can't wait to see you!

Race Day Details:

*Important note* Bloomingdale High School does not allow dogs on campus during our event.

Race Access Information:
The gates at Bloomingdale will be closed off at 7:55 AM. The gates will be shut when the race starts. The race uses the roads/pavement throughout the school grounds, and for everyone’s safety, no motor vehicle traffic is allowed. We will have volunteers stationed at the gates to open them in case of an emergency. If you have someone coming to watch the race, they need to arrive before 7:55 AM. We expect to be able to open the back gate by Guiles Road at approximately 8:45 AM. The front gates will be opened after the last participants are passed that point in the 5k.

5k Details

The 5k starts at 8 a.m. It starts and finishes on the Bloomingdale track and utilizes all of the pavement throughout campus. Strollers are welcome but please note, you will have to go over curbs onto sidewalks.

½ mile Details

The ½ mile starts at 9 a.m. We strongly advise participants to be onsite before the start of the 5k. The gates are closed at 7:55 to traffic. The back gate by Guiles Road will be opened around 8:45.

The 1/2 mile run or walk around the track is open to both kids and adults, participants go around the track enjoying the BSHS Rajun' Bull Band Drumline and receive a medal. It is not timed, and participants do not receive a shirt.
