RTC Open Water Swim Monday, 9/14/26 was a swimming and paddle race held on September 14, 2026 in Midlothian, VA, VA.
This race has already happened.
It was held on September 14, 2026. Registration for this edition is closed.
Open water swims are hosted seasonally on Mondays and Wednesdays, weather and river permitting, at Robious Landing. Registration is open until 3 pm the day of the swim.
If your plans have changed and you need to register or cancel after 3 pm please contact your swim lead at: lilortc@gmail.com
** Please select the final “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” to submit your registration and receive a confirmation email. We need to have an accurate head count for our water safety crew. Similarly, if you are unable to attend after registering, we ask that you cancel your registration before 3pm by asking for a “refund.”
1. Please arrive by 5:45 pm to hear the safety briefing, sign in, and get yourself ready to go. Late arrivals may swim at their own risk without signing in.
2. Swim buoys and bright swim caps are required. We have a limited number of swim buoys and caps available to borrow if necessary. No Buoy = No Swim! Other items to bring are a towel, goggles, sandals, bathing suit and sometimes a wetsuit.
3. New open water swimmers may request a swim angel, however, we can't guarantee one as it's dependent on another member offering to take that role. The swim angel will swim with you and keep an eye on you. See role description for more information.
4. After swimming, please SIGN OUT. The Swim Lead will call the emergency contact if the swimmer does not sign out.
5. Please consider giving back to our program by volunteering at least monthly either by signing up to kayak, SUP, swim angel, or pull the trailer.
We also have a volunteer reward program called Tri-Stars. Read more about Tri-Stars here. You are also welcome to register a nonmember friend or family member to volunteer.
Kayakers must be at least 18 years old. RTC provides kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and safety equipment. Trailer driver volunteers need a vehicle with a 2” receiver hitch. RTC has the ball connector in the trailer. Please reach out to us at rtcinfo@richmondtriclub.org to learn how to pull the trailer.
6. We allow nonmembers to swim with us twice before membership becomes required. Nonmembers can simply drop in and approach the swim lead upon arrival to sign a waiver on paper. Please arrive by 5:45. We look forward to meeting you.
7. All participants are encouraged to sign up for Rained Out text notifications here.
