Miles of Memories 5K - Alzheimer’s & Dementia Awareness Walk/Run/Ruck
📍 Means Park | Weatherford, Oklahoma
Every mile tells a story. Every memory matters. No one should have to walk this journey alone.
Some journeys change a family forever. Alzheimer’s and dementia are among them.
Behind so many doors are people navigating the this journey—spouses becoming caregivers, children watching a parent change, families holding on to precious memories, and loved ones trying to find their way through the uncertainty and heartache.
That is why we are creating Miles of Memories.
We want this event to be about more than raising awareness. We want it to bring people together, create meaningful connections, and remind every person affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia that they are not alone.
💜 A Memorial Loop: Honoring the Lives Behind the Memories
Before our 5K begins, we will gather for a special memorial loop around the perimeter of Means Park—a quarter-mile dedicated to remembering and honoring those we have lost.
Along this path, we will display photographs of loved ones whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s or dementia. Each photograph represents a life, a family, a story, and a love that continues long after goodbye.
We invite you to bring a photograph of someone you would like to honor. As we walk this loop together, we will have an opportunity to pause, reflect, remember, and recognize the people who inspire us to keep moving forward.
This is more than a lap around a park. It is a chance to celebrate lives lived, honor the memories we hold close, and stand alongside others who understand the journey in ways words sometimes cannot express.
Then, We Move Forward Together
Following our memorial loop, we will begin the 5K walk/run/ruck—a symbol of hope, resilience, awareness, and the strength found in community.
Whether you choose to run, walk, ruck, or simply be present, you belong here.
Come to honor a parent, spouse, grandparent, friend, or someone who made a lasting difference in your life. Come to support someone who is still navigating this journey. Come because you want to learn, connect, and make a difference.
You do not have to be a runner. You do not have to have the right words. And you do not have to know anyone when you arrive.
Just come as you are.
Our hope is that families will leave not only having honored someone they love, but having met someone who understands. Someone who has walked a similar road. Someone who reminds them that even in the hardest seasons, there is compassion, connection, and hope.
💜 Miles of Memories 5K
Honoring their stories. Supporting their journey. Walking together.
Because every life matters. Every story deserves to be remembered. And no family should have to face Alzheimer’s or dementia alone.
Join us at Means Park as we walk in remembrance, move with purpose, and build a community where no one has to walk this journey alone.
Donations will be used to provide support, services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias nationwide, and funding research for better treatment and a cure
Please upload your photo of your loved one to be printed and placed along the memorial loop.
