Break the boundaries and dash to freedom in the Jail Break 5K, a race filled with excitement, challenge, and Mobile’s rich history. Starting and finishing at the vibrant Mardi Gras Park, participants will embark on a heart-pounding route that takes them past the historic jail, fully immersing them in the theme of a daring jail break. But the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line! Runners can strike a post in a makeshift jail cell, capturing their victorious escape-or playful capture- for a perfect photo op. Whether you’re running for speed or fun, this unique course and interactive experience will keep you engaged every step of the way.

Registration:
Register by mail (entries should be postmarked by October 28), in person at McCoy Outdoor, Run-N-Tri, or Fleet Feet in Mobile until noon November 13. or online at Runsignup.com until 6 AM November 13. Race day packet pick-up and race day registration from 6:30-7:15 AM at Mardi Gras Park, near the corner of Royal and Government Street.
Entry fees include: Inmate t-shirt, fugitive ID Bib, recovery contraband, and winners’ loot
Course:
The certified 5K course that starts at Mardi Gras Park allows runners to make their way past the Mobile County Jail and several Bonding Companies before taking advantage of the flat, shaded roads. The course is designed for breakout speeds.
Shirts:
To guarantee a shirt on race day, you must submit your application and fees by October 21. Shirts are as “available” after October 21.
Awards:
Top male and female Overall, top three male and female in age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+.
Post-Race:
After crossing the finish line at Mardi Gras Park, finishers can commemorate their great escape with a photo op inside a jail cell. Awards, snacks & beverages will be provided after the race
