From the Organizer
Holly Springs Race Against the Sun is back for our third year!
Join us for an epic event! With 100 Mile, 24 hour, 12 hour, 24hr 6 person relay, 12hr or 12 hour 4person relay options available RATS has something for everyone! The course will be a 4.167 mile trail loop that runners will get to experience all the beauty Bass Lake and Sugg Farm has to offer! This is not a Last Man Standing event! The distance of the course is meant to be able to practice for your next Last Man Standing event and for easy pacing for our athletes. If you complete a full loop every hour, in 12 hours you will have completed 50 miles, and in 24 hours you will have completed 100 miles.
Ruck division: Ruckers will have a mandatory gear check and must carry their pack every loop.

This race spans more than one sport — here’s a guide to each, so you can understand what’s involved and decide if it’s the right fit. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer’s event page.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
Covering a distance on foot under a weighted rucksack — from timed solo challenges to longer team events.
Running off-road — dirt, singletrack, and mountain paths — from 5Ks to ultras. The terrain, not the pace, is the whole point.
Anything beyond the marathon — 50K, 50-mile, 100K, 100-mile, and timed events. Aid stations, cutoffs, and finishing as the goal.
