Extra Mile Backyard Ultra is a running race on October 20–21, 2026 in Durham, NC, with an entry fee of $20.
From the Organizer
Get ready. This October 23rd–24th, we are hosting an event that will test your limits, build unforgettable bonds, and reshape your perspective on what you are capable of through Christ.
Inspired by elite endurance events, our "Go the extra mile " Challenge isn't about who is the fastest , it’s about who has the mental grit to keep showing up.
🛑 The Objective: Every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours, a whistle blows. You must step up to the starting line and complete a 2-mile neighborhood loop.
⏳ The Catch: If you finish early, you get to hang out, eat, stretch, and participate in awesome midnight worship and prayer devotions at Base Camp (the church). If you are late by even one second, you are disqualified from the running —but you aare more than welcome to stay to volunteer and cheer your friends on!
💰 The Mission: We are using this as a "Pledge Per Mile" fundraiser for our mission trip 2027! Neighbors and family can sponsor you per mile (up to 48 total miles!) to give you that extra fuel to push through the 3:00 AM wall.
If you just want to test the waters and don't want to sign up for a full ultra you can also sign up for a 2 mile ,4 mile and 10k race individually each race will be only 20 dollar to sign up.
FOOD AND SHIRTS WILL BE INCLUDED FOR ALL RACERS!
There will also be music, worship and bible study during the downtime before each loop
Are you ready to discover your true limits? Signup sheets for runners and survival gear checklists are available at the youth desk this Sunday!
