6th Annual DeRidder Back Roads Not-So-Typical Half Marathon

It’s time to hit the training trails!

The 6th Annual DeRidder Back Roads Not-So-Typical Half Marathon is coming up, and we’re excited to bring this race back to our community for another year!

Whether you’re ready to tackle 13.1 miles, take on the 10K, or join us for the 1-Mile Fun Run, there’s a race for everyone.

Come take a back roads tour through the beautiful, historic countryside of DeRidder. No heavy traffic. No red lights. Just fence lines, farm life, railroad tracks, and plenty of twists and turns along our rural Louisiana back roads.

Even better, you’ll be running for a great cause! Once again, we are proud to support Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Efforts. When Southwest Louisiana was devastated by multiple disasters in 2020, Samaritan’s Purse was here for our communities when we needed them. This race is one small way we can help give back and support their work in communities facing disasters today

Race Day Information

• Half Marathon – 13.1 Miles

• 10K – 6.2 Miles

• Fun Run – 1 Mile

🏅 Awards: Top male and female finishers will be recognized in all three races.

👕 Race Shirts: All participants registered by December 9 are guaranteed a race T-shirt. Registrations after December 9 may receive a shirt while supplies last, but sizes and availability cannot be guaranteed.

🏃 Half Marathon Walkers: Roads will only be secured for a limited amount of time. If you plan to walk the 13.1-mile course, we ask that you maintain a brisk pace throughout the race.

👧 Fun Run: Kids are welcome! Children under age 13 must have an adult present at the finish line to supervise them.

🥤 Finish-Line Refreshments: Water, Gatorade, and other refreshments will be available free to race participants after finishing.

🐕 No Pets, Please: Because our course travels through rural areas, participants may encounter loose dogs along the route. We work hard to notify residents and raise awareness before race day, but for everyone's safety, please do not bring pets onto the course.

📣 Spectators: We love having family and friends cheer on our runners! Please remain safely off the roadway and keep the course and finish-line area clear for participants.

🗺️ Race Route: Registered participants will receive an email with route information during the week leading up to the race.

🏁 Start Time:  Registration packets will be picked up on race day beginning at 6:00am when you check in.  We will be excepting race day registrations.

🤑 Price Increase:  We are investing in making our race even better for our runners!  With the rising cost of race expenses and supplies, along with providing higher quality race shirts, we have adjusted registration pricing.  We also hope this increase will allow us to invest in a professional timing system to offer more accurate results and age-group awards.  Thank you for helping us continue to grow and improve our race!
