From the Organizer
Second Wind Running Club welcomes you to the Allerton Park Trail Run!
Let's hit the trails! A good portion of the 5.7-mile course follows the Sangamon River which has proven quite challenging over the years. Runners may find hidden roots, ruts, sharp turns, and other obstacles. We donate a portion of the proceeds back to Allerton Park for trail maintenance or park enhancements. Our donations have been used towards a railing at a dangerous spot, trail erosion control, recycle bins, water fountain bottle filling station, a new café in the visitor's center, and more. We feel quite fortunate that the park allows us to bring so many into it and pound the trails!
Can't join us on race day 10/25/26? Sign-up for the VIRTUAL option instead! Please note that you will not be eligible for any age-group awards. Virtual results can be entered from 10/25/26 through 10/31/26.
Want to receive a race shirt? Deadline to register and guarantee a shirt is Wednesday, October 14th, 2026.
Don't want a race shirt? No problem! Select 'no shirt' instead of a size from the drop-down box during registration.
If participating in this race will qualify you for the Monticello Triple Crown, you MUST register by Wednesday, October 14th, 2026.
The race ends in the meadow where you can gather with family and friends. With the race close to Halloween, we'd love to see costumes out on the trails! Stay after the race for the overall 5.7-mile trail run awards (top male, top female, top male masters, top female masters), age group awards (top 3 M/F; 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). The 2-mile nature walk is non-competitive and no awards will be given for this event. Door prizes and costume contest prizes will be given as well!
Registration is via this page only and will end promptly on race day, October 25th, at 8:30am.
Volunteers needed! Even if you register for either activity (Trail Run or Nature Walk) for Sunday October 25th, 2026, you can also volunteer. Responsibilities will vary based on the opportunity you sign up for. The Race Director, a volunteer captain, or team lead will be available to provide direction or guidance as needed. Other experienced volunteers can also provide insights and advice. Further instructions and possibly training as needed or requested will be provided closer to the day of the event.
For safety purposes, no dogs allowed on the trail run or the nature walk.
