Choose your path. Discover what you're capable of.
Looking for something different than your typical 5K, half marathon, or obstacle course race? The East Fork Challenge is your chance to try something new!
Join us for an unforgettable adventure at East Fork State Park, where you'll hike, bike, paddle, and navigate your way through the outdoors, collecting checkpoints and making memories along the way.
With 6-hour and 12-hour options, the East Fork Challenge is designed for everyone—from complete beginners to experienced adventure racers. You don't need to be an elite athlete or navigation expert. Just bring a sense of adventure, a willingness to try something new, and maybe a friend or two!
What Is Adventure Racing?
Think of it as an outdoor scavenger hunt with a little endurance mixed in!
Instead of following a marked course, you'll use a map and compass to find checkpoints scattered throughout the park. You'll travel on foot, mountain bike, and by boat, choosing your own route and deciding which checkpoints to pursue.
The best part? You set your own pace and choose your own adventure. You don't have to find every checkpoint or race nonstop for the full time limit. The goal is to collect as many points as you can and make it back before time runs out.
How It Works
Race solo or with friends — Go it alone or build a team.
Choose 6 or 12 hours — Pick the adventure that fits you.
Explore by foot, bike, and boat — Experience East Fork State Park in a whole new way.
Find checkpoints — Use a map and compass to navigate your own route.
Race your way — Go all out or take a more relaxed approach. The choice is yours!
Beat the clock — Return before the cutoff to avoid penalties.

Adventure racing strings together trekking, mountain biking, and paddling — with navigation by map and compass — across a course you have to find as much as finish. Most events are raced as a team, often over many hours or even multiple days.
It rewards the all-rounder and the problem-solver as much as the pure athlete: route choice, teamwork, and staying steady when you're tired and off the map are as much the challenge as the miles.
Trek, mountain bike, and paddle with navigation between checkpoints — from a few hours to multi-day expeditions, usually in teams.
