WAI Wheels Down South 5K Walk / Run is a running race on October 18, 2026 in Atlanta, GA, with an entry fee of $25.
From the Organizer
Who we are: With more than 20,000 members in 120 countries, Women in Aviation International is the largest nonprofit organization that envisions a world where the sky is open to all and where aviation and aerospace dreams are possible without barriers. Our Wheels Down South Chapter is a diverse group of men and women, including pilots, customer service representatives, FAA employees, mechanics, flight attendants, safety professionals, and more within the Greater Atlanta area.
Our purpose: The proceeds from this 5K will support funding for chapter scholarships, which aim to promote aviation for women of all ages and backgrounds by assisting with expenses related to training in the individual's field of choice within aviation.
Who can participate: This event is open to anyone of any age, gender, and skill level who would like to contribute to the future of women in aviation. You may complete the 5K at any time if you choose to participate virtually, or you can join us on October 18, 2026 at 11AM. Everyone can participate regardless of skill level because you can split the 5K into smaller increments, spread it out over time, or complete it all at once. You choose whether to track or not to track. It’s your 5K; do it creatively, with friends and family, or go solo. It is about getting out there and moving while supporting aviation scholarships.
Early bird registration is open August 15 through August 31, 2026. Standard registration prices will be in effect starting September 1, 2026 through race day.
Is this a timed race? Nope! You'll see we have runners, walkers, skippers, and dancers – everyone is free to enjoy the course in their own way. Times can be self-reported through the RunSignup website.
