The Mandan Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4984 proudly presents the return of the Through the Smoke Road Race.
The race will kick off at the Mandan Firefighters Training Grounds 629 24th Ave. SE Mandan, ND and wind through the Lakewood area of Mandan on June 6th at 09:00. Events include a family-friendly 5K (dogs, and strollers welcome), a competitive 5K and 10K, and a kids’ half-mile race for ages 10 and under.
All proceeds benefit the Mandan Firefighters by funding new fitness equipment and advanced training opportunities with leaders from across the United States. Access to proper fitness equipment and high-quality training supports both physical performance and mental resilience, helping firefighters manage stress, build confidence, and maintain long-term well-being. Supporting firefighter fitness and training helps ensure our crews are prepared to protect our community safely and effectively.
Family Activities & Spectator Fun
The starting area will feature a Kids Fire Safety Fun Zone, offering hands-on activities and education for children. Families and spectators are encouraged to cheer on all racers as they cross the finish line and enjoy the community atmosphere throughout the event.

Awards will be given to the 1st place finisher in each age group, for both male and female divisions in the 5K and10K competitive races.

All registered participants for the competitive 5K and 10K will receive a finisher medal at the finish line.
