From the Organizer
The TCU Theta CASA 5K will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. beginning at Frog Fountain in the TCU Commons. Each station along the route will be filled with TCU Theta members to cheer on the participants.
The Gamma Psi chapter of KAO holds an annual 5K run in memory of Tracy Clark, a member of the class of 1993. Tracy's idea for a 5K led to the first Breakaway event in 1997. Tragically, she passed away in an automobile accident at a young age, and the event was renamed in her honor in 1999. Since then, the TCU Theta chapter has been organizing the 5K to raise funds for two beneficiaries: CASA of Tarrant County and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. All proceeds from the race are donated to these organizations.
In 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity adopted National CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, as the fraternity’s official philanthropy. CASA volunteers are trained community volunteers who speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system. Advocates provide valuable information to the judges as to what is best for the child and also help expedite the legal process so these children will still have a chance at childhood.
The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation supports the educational, leadership, and philanthropic pursuits of Kappa Alpha Theta members. Its mission is to secure resources that empower Thetas to reach their full potential and make a positive impact on the world. The Foundation's "Theta for Good" program enables college chapters to fundraise not only for the Foundation itself, but also for other charitable causes important to their local communities. This allows Thetas to cultivate their spirit of philanthropy and create meaningful change through supporting multiple organizations. By participating in Theta for Good fundraising events, Kappa Alpha Theta chapters embrace the vision of giving every member the opportunity to make a difference.
