From the Organizer
Join Us for the 2027 Sun Run: La Primera!
Kick off the 2026 racing season on January 17th, 2027, with Sun Run: La Primera, the first race in The Running Shop/Mizuno SAR Grand Prix Series (10k). This is our 3nd year at the new course. We are running at the newly named Danny Lopez Park (formally Christopher Columbus Park)! Runners will enjoy a scenic loop around the Santa Cruz River Path, featuring gently rolling hills through the Sweetwater Riparian area that make this route a fresh challenge and departure from the typical out-and-back.
We will also provide a FitKidz Mile after most have completed the 5k and 10k.
Pre-Race Packet Pick-up: Saturday, January 16th, 2027, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at The Running Shop, 3055 N. Campbell Ave. If you aren’t able to make it Saturday, no problem! We’ll be set up by 6:30 AM on race day to hand out bibs and any remaining shirts. Remember, first come, first served. But we’ll do the best we can for everyone!
