From the Organizer

Aloha Friends of Hale Kau Kau,

  • Hale Kau Kau delivers 115 meals to the homebound elderly and disabled each day and serves a hot meal to anyone who comes by the kitchen at dinner time, currently we are serving about 40-80 complete hot meals from the kitchen each evening; thus Hale Kau Kau prepares and delivers/serves over 150 meals every day of the year. .  In order to continue to feed those who are hungry, we must rely on the generosity of our many supporters.  Through our fundraisers,  friends of Hale Kau Kau continue to donate and support our mission to feed the hungry with compassion and aloha.
  • This year we are planning to have our 11th Annual  Stomp Out Hunger 5k & 1M Walk fundraiser The event will be on Saturday October 31th .  Yes, after 10 years the race falls on Halloween!  Plan your costume now, we will have great prizes for our costume winners both individual and family/teams.
  • Additionally we will have team categories for men, women, youth and miced teams any company or business can enter teams for this award.  We will have a First Responder Team Challenge.  Teams are 4 person and each winning team category will receive the coveted "Team Challenge Bowl"  Teams must call DR Mary to sign up!
  • There will be age group awards in 5 year age groups from 10 and under to 90+
  • Following the walk/run we will have a sit down breakfast in the hall, door prizes and a Halloween Costume Contest.
  • Finally: We are looking for sponsors  to support our efforts to put on a quality event as well as raise the needed funds for our meal  program.

  • Those who donate at the Gold Medal Sponsorship or above will receive special recognition at our Awards Ceremony.   •  Run and Walk will be on Saturday, October 25 2025 at 8am for the 5k RUN/Walk   and 8:15 for the 1 mile WALK  both start and finish at Hale Kau Kau 25 W Lipoa Street in Kihei, parking free at ST. Theresa Church.  There will also be a 4 person corporate team challenge, any business or company on Maui can send in  4 person teams - a men's team,  a women's team and a mixed team (must have at least 2 women on the mixed team. Special engraved Monkeypod Bowl to the Winning Team.

  • Those not on Maui on Oct 25th  can participate virtually, run/walk where they live and submit their results to Dr Mary by Oct 15th .  Although those who do the race virtually will not be eligible for a age group award, if they register early they will receive the giveaway and a certificate of completion.   Please contact Dr Mary for more information or questions: Mahalo halekaukaufundraising@rcchawaii.org

  • The 5K race will have 5 year age group awards from 9-100.  The corporate challenge is an opportunity for any company, business or organization to send in 4 runners to compete for the Corporate Challenge Award.  You must contact Dr Mary at mary,trotto@liu.edu to sign up for the Corporate Challenge Team Competition 

In 2019  Fairmont Kea Lani won the 1st Annual Corporate Challenge Award.  In 2022 Four Seasons Maui Resort won the award;  in 2023 Level Up Fitness won the award; in 2024 the Four Seasons Resort won the Mixed Team and Level Up Fitness won the Men's Team.  Ladies it is time for you to step up and enter an ALL Women's Team for 2025!

All are welcome to run or walk either event -the 5k (3.1miles) or the 1 Mile  we will have a wheelchair division.  The course is 90% back roads, flat and fast.  

This is a USATF sanctioned event and hosted by the HKK Road and Track Club

Proceeds of race go to: Hale Kau Kau: Feeding the Hungry with Compassion & Aloha.  Every day Hale Kau Kau delivers 100 hot meals to the home bound elderly, sick, and disabled and HKK serves 40-50  hot meals from the kitchen to all who come in need of a meal
