SOMA DO Dash: The Phantom 5k is a running race on October 11, 2026 in East Lansing, MI, with an entry fee of $30.
From the Organizer
MSUCOM SOMA (Student Osteopathic Medical Association) is hosting its annual SOMA DO Dash: The Phantom 5k fundraiser to support our charity partners. We are partnering with Hearts for Henrih Alikaj, which is a foundation founded in memory of an MSUCOM student who tragically passed away a few years ago. The proceeds they receive will go towards the American Heart Association and the MSUCOM scholarship his family has started in his name. We are also partnering with Refugee Development Center, which offers a variety of resources and programs for individuals and families transitioning to life in mid-Michigan.
In addition, proceeds will also support our organization, MSUCOM's Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), which is a national network of osteopathic medical students dedicated to science and art of medicine through advocacy for ourselves, our future patients, and our communities.
Again this year, the 5K will be both in a virtual and in-person format so that all runners may participate in their preferred format. The in-person race will start at 10:00 AM on October 11th on campus at MSU. Check-in will begin at 9:00 AM at Fee Hall in room E105. Feel free to wear your spookiest costume and stick around after the race to enjoy our closing ceremony for snacks and raffle drawings! Regarding the virtual version, participants will be able to run the 5K at their convenience anytime and anywhere during the week of October 11th thru the 18th.
Registration is $30 dollars per person and includes a t-shirt and participation medal. T-shirts guaranteed if registered by September 27th with limited supplies available after that time. $35 from 9/28 to 10/110 (t-shirts available as supplies last). Race day registration is $40, no t-shirt available.
Special Group and Family Pricing: Register 5 or more people together and get $5 off per person!
Finisher medals to all participants!
Course: The In-person race will start and finish at Fee Hall. See Course Map along the top for more information. Virtual participants may run any course they wish!
Important course note: There are 4 locations, marked by the red stars on the map, where participants will need to pause if traffic is present. We unfortunately are not allowed to close the roads and stop traffic. We anticipate this will be minimal as campus is usually quiet on Sunday mornings. But please be aware of your surroundings and look for our course volunteers to guide you.
Parking: Participants may park in lots 30 - 33 next to Fee Hall and at Ramps 1 or 3 on campus. Ramp 1 is located next to the College of Law building, and Ramp 3 is connected to the Wharton Center. The map for parking can be found at the bottom of this page.
Results: Results during the in-person race will be live during the race and available on the results tab at the top of the page. Virtual participants may login after the race to enter their time and see their place!
Race Packet: Race packet distribution for the in-person participants will begin the morning of the race at 9:00 AM at Fee Hall in room E105. Shipping available to virtual participants upon request.
Donations: If you are unable to participate in the race but would still like to show your support, please use the link at the top of the page. 100% of your contribution goes directly to our charitable organizations. Any amount is greatly appreciated!
Feel free to reach out to us at soma.monsterdash@gmail.com with any questions or concerns!
The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
