Fit Foundation Run the River 2027 Season · Every mile you run with us moves you downstream

The Colorado runs from the Highland Lakes to Matagorda Bay, and every Fit Foundation race sits somewhere along it. Run the River tracks how far down that corridor your legs carry you across the season.

Every mile counts, from the 5K up, at every race we put on. There is nothing to join and no separate entry fee. Enter a race and you are on the river.

Everyone starts at zero January 1, 2027 The season closes December 31. Miles do not carry into 2028. The markers Marble Falls  ·  15 miles The first marker. A half marathon and a 5K will do it. So will a 25K, or four short races across the year. Pace Bend  ·  31 miles Downstream to Lake Travis. One 50K, or a marathon and a 10K, or a steady year of halves. Austin  ·  62 miles Where the river runs through town. Two 50Ks, or a 50 miler and a half. Bastrop  ·  155 miles Out of the lakes and into the lost pines. This is 250 kilometers, and it is the Rio Colorado 250K Club buckle, presented at the finish line the moment you cross it. Matagorda  ·  400 miles Where the Colorado meets the Gulf. This one is the Rio Colorado Ultra Slam, a season of its own with its own rules and a capped roster. How it works
  • Enter any Fit Foundation race in 2027. That is all it takes to be on the river.
  • Every finished mile is credited automatically. There is nothing to claim and no extra fee.
  • Every distance counts, from the 5K up. Timed events count the distance you actually cover. Backyard ultras count 4.167 miles per yard completed.
  • Reach a marker at any race and it is presented to you at that finish line. There is no ceremony and nothing gets mailed out. You have to be there.
  • Markers are named for points on the river, not for where you collected them. You can earn Marble Falls at a race in Austin.
  • The season runs January 1 to December 31, 2027. Miles do not carry into the following year.
  • Want to know where you stand mid season? Ask us at any race, or reply to any email from us and we will tell you.
One race puts you on the river. Every mile after that carries you downstream.

The 2027 season opens January 1. Standings are updated after every race.
