From the Organizer
Run for the Animals is a fun, family friendly event to benefit the Cohanzick Zoo.
The race will start and finish at the Cohanzick Zoo, 35 Mayor Aitken Drive, Bridgeton, NJ. Parking for the event will be at Bridgeton High School. Participants will be able to take a short walk from the side entrance down to the zoo. Bathrooms will be open in the zoo and at the splash pad. Mayor Aitken Drive will be closed to traffic 8:30am - 10:30am.
The Cohanzick Zoo opened its gates as New Jersey’s first zoo in 1934. Home to nearly 100 animals representing more than 45 different species from around the world, the zoo has been a regional destination attraction for generations. We are a small free zoo, situated on approximately 15 acres within the city of Bridgeton’s 1,100-acre park, but we provide a home for some larger-than-life animals including Holly, our Asiatic black bear! We’ve been described by many as a hidden gem nestled in the woods, well off the beaten path.
Packet pick up will be available race morning starting at 8am at the starting line, which is at the zoo parking lot, 35 Mayor Aitken Dr. in Bridgeton. The race starts promptly at 9am.
Race shirts are available free to those who to register before 9/12/2026. Following 9/12, race shirts will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Leashed, friendly pups are welcome to join you on your run or walk! Please note that dogs are NOT allowed within the zoo, but may be walked along the exterior perimeter and race path.
Awards will be given to the top 3 Female and top 3 Male and NEW for this year we will award the top 3 finishers from the 17 and under age group. This race is RAIN OR SHINE!
