Support a cause close to our hearts and show off your Badger spirit! Cardiac on Campus presents its hybrid Red Tutu Trot 5k, a run/walk that takes place in Madison on October 5th or wherever is most convenient to you. All proceeds from the race will be used to host free CPR/AED certification classes in the Madison community, place AEDs in UW-Madison campus buildings, and host free ECG screening drives. The Red Tutu Trot is the perfect event for students, families, and all Badger fans. Join us to raise awareness for cardiac health!
We are offering participants the option to purchase our official Red Tutu Trot 2025 T-Shirt as a fundraising item. Get an official Red Tutu Trot T-Shirt featuring this year's exclusive design and help us save lives at the same time! You can buy one for yourself, your friends, or anyone who runs the race with you! You can pre-order until September 1st, and there will be a limited quantity available for $25 at the registration table.
Cardiac on Campus was founded in 2016 after the untimely passing of Jon Derynda, a 20-year-old UW-Oshkosh student. His sister, Brittany, and cousin, Jessica Miller, were students at UW-Madison at the time. They wanted to intentionally reach out to younger individuals who do not normally view themselves as at-risk for sudden cardiac arrest. We started small and quickly grew, offering free CPR certification courses, placing AEDs in dorm buildings, and establishing the Red Tutu Trot. Seven years later, we have placed 11 AEDs, performed over 973 ECG screenings, detecting 37 abnormal rhythms, and certified over 2,100 people in CPR.
For 90% of its victims, sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is fatal. Increasing bystander CPR and AED knowledge while also offering preventive care, like electrocardiogram (EKG) screenings, is our best solution for lowering this grim statistic. Help Cardiac on Campus raise money for our initiatives and awareness about SCA! Thank you for your time and support!
