From the Organizer
Get ready to channel your inner lumberjack or lumberjill at the Plaid to the Bone 10K - the coziest, crunchiest, most flannel-filled race of the fall!
Race day is October 11th when the leaves are turning and the apple cider's flowing! This lumberjack-themed run will have you trading your usual race tee for your finest plaid shirt. Whether you're rocking suspenders, beanies, or just a solid beard, we want to see your best forest fashion as you race with us through an autumn-filled course.
This year, we're tying our tartans to real history: Clan Hunter joins us in honor of James Hunter, the Falmouth ironmaster whose Rappahannock Forge helped arm the Continental Army. The day before, get a taste of that history at Revolution on the Rappahannock, a living history event at Pratt Park with battle reenactments, blacksmithing, and live fife & drum. Trade your musket for running shoes and keep the spirit going on race morning!
And the best part? After you cross the finish line, you'll be rewarded with the ultimate fall feast — fresh apple cider, coffee, and delicious donuts, served up with a side of hearty high-fives and your finisher's medal!
Sharpen your axes (or your wit), lace up your boots (er, running shoes), and join us for a race that's Plaid to the Bone! Costumes encouraged, flannel or tartan required, and fun guaranteed.
Not ready to call it a day once you've earned your medal? Round out the weekend with self-guided Heritage Tours of the Falmouth Historic Cemetery and Union Church - the final resting place of James Hunter himself.
The Plaid to the Bone 10K is the 10th race in the 2026 Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Series hosted by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club.
