Join us and "Race for the horseshoe!"
Starting August 8, 2026 we will be bringing back the historic Pony Express race. Now with a new annual race weekend, the second Saturday of August, we honor the late Pat Lockhart by formally changing the race's name to Pat's Pony Express. Pat had such an important hand in the race's history. Founded in 1977, Pat’s Pony Express has quietly been one of the most unique races offered by the PPRR and is a true trail race located at the iconic Rampart Reservoir.
Our goal is to grow and improve this race into the future. For one more year the course will be the 2023 race course, staying to the north of the reservoir. At the request of the Forest Service, please use USFS Roads 950 and 951 for parking. (1/4 M walk to the start). There will be minimal parking on the west side of Rampart Range Road. Parking guides will be on-site to direct you to those areas. NO parking will be allowed on the east side of the road.
Please share the Rainbow Gulch's parking lot with all trail users.
Pre-registration is required.
