From the Organizer
Want to start running but don’t know where to start? Want to get back into running and need a plan? The Southern Colorado Runners are hosting an 8-week training clinic designed to help you prepare for the Hot To Trot 5k on September 20 using the Galloway run/walk/run method. We will meet on Saturday mornings at City Park beginning July 25. All are welcome!
We believe sharing the training journey with friends working to achieve a common goal is the best part and makes every run more enjoyable!
This program is designed for people who have never run before or those who have not run recently. We'll help you achieve your goal safely with a gradual and strategic increase to your training mileage. We start Saturday, July 25 with very gentle workouts combining walking and running. Each week the training will gradually increase. You will be provided a training schedule that includes two runs on your own during the week and a group run on Saturday. This training style allows your body time to adapt to running over the 8 weeks of the program as we build to the goal of running a 5k (3.1 miles).
The program will also provide information on proper hydration, nutrition, injury prevention, running form, training principles, as well as other areas to help you have a successful race!
