About the Race
Join us for the 4th Annual Mental Health Matters 5K, a community event dedicated to raising awareness, breaking stigma, and supporting teen mental health.
This race is hosted by the Active Minds/KyleCares Club at Greely High School, in partnership with KyleCares—a nonprofit committed to promoting open, honest conversations about mental health among teens and young adults. Together, we aim to create school and community environments where seeking help is encouraged, supported, and free from shame.
Our Mission
At the heart of this event is a simple but powerful message: It’s okay not to be okay.
Adolescence is a time of significant change and challenge. Many teens face academic pressure, social expectations, identity exploration, and personal struggles that can impact their mental health. Through awareness, education, and early intervention, we strive to ensure that no student feels alone.
Proceeds and support from this event help expand programming that:
Promotes mental health awareness and suicide prevention
Encourages help-seeking behavior and reduces stigma
Provides resources and safe spaces for students
Supports school and community-wide mental health initiatives
Our Impact
Over the past seven years, KyleCares has helped launch 74 chapters in 4 states - MA, ME, NH, and RI. connecting with over 1,000 Active Minds chapters in high schools, colleges, and universities nationwide. The network includes more than 15,000 student advocates.
At Greely High School, our student-led club has:
Brought numerous and impactful speakers and programming to students and staff
Expanded outreach to younger grades (4–8)
Fostered a culture of empathy, connection, and support
Encouraged open dialogue around mental health
These efforts have helped create a stronger, more compassionate community where students feel seen, heard, and supported.
Why It Matters
Early awareness and intervention can change—and save—lives. By participating in this event, you are helping to build a community that prioritizes mental wellness, supports young people, and empowers them with the tools to navigate life’s challenges.
