The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) proudly presents the Lights & Sirens Race for Hope for Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC). The NCSHP, through their involvement with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics North Carolina, will host the second ever community fundraising event to feature a 5K run and 1.5-mile fun run at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. All participants will have the unique opportunity to run on the Charlotte Motor Speedway track in support of nearly 53,000 registered SONC athletes and Unified partners.
The first 250 registered 5K participants will receive a free voucher for the spectacular Christmas Light Show at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fun Run participants are not included in this promotion.
Event Date – Saturday, December 12, 2026
Packet Pick up – Begins 8:00 AM Race Day
5K & Fun Run – Begins 10:00 AM
Fun Run – 1.5-mile non-chipped run/walk around the race track (perfect for families and walkers)
***Parking – Inside the track through Gate 13 tunnel, follow Special Olympics North Carolina directional signs
