Sunday, June 14, 2026 8am start Cutoff time for both Marathon and Half is 2pm. 10K will run concurrently.
The Half Marathon is a single loop out and back while the Marathon is a double out and back. Both races begin/end on Main St. in the charming Village of Lake Placid at the Olympic Speedskating Oval.
The Marathon/Half course is a combination of flat, rolling and some hills and runners enjoy mountain views, open areas, shaded areas, a class III trout stream, and beautiful Mirror Lake along the way.
Well-stocked aid stations are available. The event offers a generous six (6) hour course limit for each race.
Athlete food at the Race Finish along with a quality finisher medal and a 2026 race T-shirt are among the benefits of the race. Please note: We reserve the right to change the racer gift and will inform you of any changes/options well ahead of race day.
The Lake Placid Marathon & Half was ranked the #2 “Best Destination” Race in the USA by a Runner’s World Magazine reader survey (source; Jan. 2010 issue).
We are walker-friendly and a great venue for a team or group destination event.
Age restrictions: The marathon is limited to those 16 yrs and older on race day but must have a parent's signature IN PERSON at registration in order for a child to compete that is under 18 years old.

The entry fees include a charity component that allows us to make a donation to the Lake Placid Junior Class and the Tri Lakes Humane Society. Also global charities like the ACLU, Doctors Without Borders among others. For a limited time the North Elba Christmas Fund will be a check-off charity.

Transfers and refunds are not available for this event. Deferrals are subject to approval and will result in a re-registration fee. We encourage you to purchase the event insurance in case you cannot make it.

The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.
Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.

How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.
