2026 Historic Elkhart Hill Trail Run
Runners and history lovers alike are invited to the Historic Elkhart Hill Trail Run, an event that highlights one of Illinois’ most culturally significant landscapes. Rising 777 feet above the prairie, Elkhart Hill has served as a landmark for Native peoples, early settlers, and travelers for centuries.
The Trail Run offers participants a rare opportunity to explore the hill’s private trails, winding through old‑growth timber, historic sites, and panoramic overlooks. The event is designed to promote outdoor recreation, heritage tourism, and environmental stewardship.
“Elkhart Hill tells the story of Illinois,” said organizers. “This event allows people to connect with that story in a meaningful, active way.”
Visitors can enjoy local food, music, and guided historical notes throughout the morning.
