Hike for Hunger is a running race on October 23, 2026 in Omaha, NE.
This year will be different than previous years as some ruckers will be completing the ruck in Djibouti Africa. Also t-shirts are available for purchase.
T-shirts must be purchased by October 5, 2026, pictures of the shirts can be found on our FB page (Hike for Hunger Omaha). T-shirts are $11 and can be paid for by Venmo at Michaela-Wesley-1 .
12 mile ruck march along the Keystone Trail starting at Stinson Park and turnaround at Democracy Park (no restrooms available at turn around) and ending at Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1725 South 60th Street, Omaha, NE 68106. Aim to carry 30 pounds of food items in your ruck. If you don't want to carry the weight in your ruck or have additional donations, please bring your items to the starting line and drop it off.
The food pantry will graciously accept all canned goods and food items, however here is a list of the most needed items:
Pancake mix
Syrup
Juice (that doesn’t need refrigeration)
Canned meat like Spam, chicken, tuna, and beef
Cereal
Beans - black, pinto, pork & beans - no green beans please
Bar Soap
Laundry Soap
Keep in mind that these items are for families and canned goods should be limited to 15 ounce or less cans. If you want to donate pasta or rice, please limit to 1 pound bags or boxes.
Some tips for the canned goods is to use the cardboard tray and saran wrap it to keep the cans from shifting during the ruck. Please do not use tape as this will peel the label off the cans.
