From the Organizer
The Annual Newbern Depot Days 5K Race and Fitness walk is in remembrance of Reverend George Butler and Bart Williams, who began overseeing this race over three decades ago, were dedicated to ensuring the race was held annually, regardless of the number of participants. In their honor, we are continuing this tradition, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the George Butler Memorial Food Pantry and the Loads of Love Laundry ministry of the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian church. This pantry and laundry ministry, operated by community volunteers, is located at the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where Reverend Butler served as pastor and Bart, a devoted member, for over 30 years. We are also asking for support on the day of the race by asking participants to bring canned goods and laundry pods to support the food pantry and laundry ministry in Newbern.
The race events include:
5K Rail Run
Morning Mile Awards
Jr. Morning Run Awards (2nd grade and under)
Health Walk
We are seeking sponsors to help us make this event a success. For a sponsorship cost of $100, your organization will receive recognition on event materials, including banners, flyers, and our website. Your support will honor Reverend Butler’s legacy and provide essential resources to the George Butler Memorial Food Pantry, helping those in need within our community. Please make checks out to Newbern Rotary.
