From the Organizer

The Beast of the Brazos, an open-water swim event in Waco, TX, is 2.4 miles and 1.2 mile distances mirroring a full IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Waco courses. Newly added this year is a 750 meter swim sprint! All participants registered before August 8th will receive a swim cap, dri-fit shirt, and finisher’s medal.

Wetsuit classification is only relevant for determining the top 3 tiered age group for male and female awards.  If you register for wetsuit, but decide to change into non wetsuit the morning of, there's no consequences, but please let us know!  You just won't be able to qualify for a top 3 tiered age group awards. 

 
*If water temperature is above 90 degrees then the course will be abbreviated for safety reasons. 
 
All proceeds from this race will benefit the Greater Waco Sports Commission, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization devoted to providing opportunities to enhance the lives of those living in Waco and McLennan County through sport and exercise.

 

Race Day Schedule of Events *Subject to Change*:

6:45-7:45 AM: Packet Pickup/Late Registration

7:40-8:00 AM: Opening Ceremonies at Indian Springs Park

7:45 AM: Call for 750 meter swim participants to assemble at the start area of Dorris Miller Dock 

8:00-8:30 AM: 750 meter swim (30 minute mandatory cut off time) 

8:25 AM: Call for 2.4 mile participants to walk to Pecan Bottoms Dock 

8:25-8:55 AM: 2.4 mile swim staging 

9:00-11:20 AM: 2.4 mile swim (2:20 mandatory cut off time)

9:35 AM: Call for 1.2 mile swim participants to walk to Pecan Bottoms Dock

9:35-10:05 AM: 1.2 mile swim staging 

10:10-11:20 AM: 1.2 mile swim (1:10 mandatory cut off time)

11:30 AM: Awards (Top 3 males and females of each age category & race)

12:00 PM: After Party at Even Hotel
