From the Organizer
Abuelitos 5k is a fun and family oriented event with the purpose of celebrating family and contribution of grandparents. This 5K is an opportunity to stay healthy and run/walk shoulder to shoulder with our children and grandchildren. Overcome all obstacles and register for this exciting event. The Charity partner for this 5k is Centro Romero, a community organization in the northside of Chicago that offers after school programs, ESL and GED classes, and youth leadership programs among others.
Dress up as a grandpa or grandma (custom) and be ready to spend time together with your beloved ones who give so much for our community. A purpose of the 5k is to reach out to abuelit@s who need to socialize in a fun environment and hopefully begin running/walking clubs for people over 60 years old.
All runners will receive a beautiful finishing medal, cafecito, and delicious tamales. Runners will enjoy Andean Music.
Come and run with us. Everyone is welcome to exercise, stay fit, healthy, strengthen our families and community.
