Welcome to the fifth annual 5Katie! The 5Katie event is a 10K and 5K+ trail run, along with a 2K untimed walk, created to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer. In memory of Katie Cobb, and in partnership with the West Virginia Kids Cancer Crusaders, all profits will benefit care and treatment of children with cancer.
Join us on Saturday, November 7th on the Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane, West Virginia for the fifth annual 5Katie!
Race Details:
Packet pickup is from 7:30 - 8:45 am on Saturday, November 7th at the big red barn at the front of Hurricane City Park. All race participants can pick up their packets at that time. There will be signs directing you to the packet pickup, as well as to the start line.
The race start/finish line will be by the shelter in the “bowl”, located across the train tracks (be aware, and be careful). We will have volunteers stationed at packet pickup and along the way to guide you to the bowl. Please plan for an extra 15 minutes to walk to the start/finish line.
Bathrooms are available in Hurricane City Park, and portable restrooms will be available at the start/finish area.
Water and sports drink aid stations will be available along the course and we will have post-race refreshments located at the shelter in the bowl.
Race Distances:
Please note these are trail races, and distances are not exact. The 5k course is a 5k+ course. The 5k course is close to 4 miles from start to finish.
The 10k course is approximately 6.1 miles from start to finish.
The 2k walk is approximately 1 mile long.
As with all trail races, GPS watch readings may vary from the official course distance due to terrain and satellite accuracy. Please refer to course markings for the most accurate information on race day.
Awards:
The 5K and 10K is a competitive race with awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female in the following age divisions:
10 and under
11-14
15-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70- And UP
The 2K walk is a non-competitive event and will be an easy to moderate course on gravel /dirt trails within the park "around the bowl”
The 5K and 10K course will all be single track trails utilizing the hand built trail system at Meeks Mountain. These courses will be well marked and easy to navigate. Please note, these trails are single track trails and will be easy to moderate in difficulty with terrain and footing. Keep in mind, weather can effect the difficulty of the course. Remember, this is a trail race!
Safety and EMT will be on call for emergency situations.

Each registrant including walkers will receive a high quality shirt if registered no later than October 26, 2026!
