Lace up for our heroes! Join us during Monroe County’s annual First Responders Week as we walk, run, and unite to raise vital awareness and funding for the mental health challenges and job-related trauma faced by those who run toward danger to keep us safe.

THE COURSE AND COMPETITION
Scenic Run/Walk: This event is open to the public of all ages and abilities. Participants will complete three scenic laps around Truman Waterfront Park, offering beautiful views of the historic Coast Guard Cutter Ingham.
The "Super Eight" Challenge: First responder teams will compete for bragging rights across eight categories, including Police Officers and Sheriff's Deputies, Firefighters, USA Armed Forces, Correctional Officers & Sheriff's Detention Deputies, 911 Dispatchers, CSIs, EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, and Correctional Probation Officers.
Special Guest Participants: We are honored to welcome back Key West Vice Mayor Donald "Donie" Lee, MCSO Bureau of Corrections Major Tim Age, Captain Crane, Lieutenant Rice, and FWC Lieutenant Jeremy Munkelt to the starting line!
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
Finisher Medals: All participants who complete the 5K will receive a commemorative finisher medal.
Officer Alioht Valdes Marrero Perpetual Trophy: Presented by Key West Vice Mayor Donald "Donie" Lee to the winning "Super Eight" team.
Team Awards: Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay will present trophies and medals (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) to the top three first responder teams.
Individual Medals: Awarded to top overall male and female winners, as well as age-group winners.
Youth Volunteer Recognition: Major Tim Age will recognize our Florida Keys Sea Cadets youth volunteers with signed certificates of achievement and hero medals.
SCHEDULE AND LOGISTICS
Packet Pickup
Friday, January 8th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fit2Run "The Runner’s Superstore" (211 Duval Street). Race Day, Saturday, January 9th from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM at Truman Waterfront Park.
Race Day Schedule
The morning begins at 7:45 AM with an Opening Ceremony featuring an invocation by Bishop Jonathan Carey, praying for the protection and wellbeing of all first responders and their families. We will then hear an inspirational message of resilience from guest speaker Command Sergeant Major Tonya Oxendine of the Wounded Warrior Project. The race kicks off promptly at 8:00 AM.
After crossing the finish line, join us for refreshments, an awards ceremony, and a raffle. We encourage all who attend to also participate in and support the Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride community ride taking place in Key West the same day following our closing ceremonies.
PERKS AND CHARITY SUPPORT
Participant Swag: The first 200 registered entrants will receive a free official race t-shirt and a customized souvenir drawstring backpack.
Charity Impact: Save Our First Responders is a program of The Florida Correctional Officers Association, Inc., a local Key West based 501(c)(3) public charity. Your support directly funds mental health resources for our local frontline first responders.
