The Ocean State Crossing draws top Challengers from across the nation to set out on a 15 mile paddle & row navigation challenge across iconic Rhode Island Sites - Fort Adams, Newport Harbor :: Point Judith Lighthouse.  This event hosts paddlers & rowers of multiple disciplines, fundraising & celebrating Summer Safe Ocean State culture! 

The Ocean State Crossing end points are Fort Adams Beach In Newport Harbor & Roger Wheeler State Beach in Point Judith.  The Crossing direction will be based on weather conditions with the preferred route being Point Judith to Newport.  

The Ocean State Crossing is an event to celebrate Ocean Culture & support the mission of Summer Safe Ocean State L3C Organization (organization which prioritizes mission over profits & at all times further accomplishments of charitable or educational purposes).  Summer Safe Ocean State L3C is committed to fostering awareness and impact toward safe, coastal recreation.  We create and support initiatives which positively and directly address Drowning Prevention, Cardiac Health/Cancer Prevention & Coastal Sustainability in The Ocean State.

The Ocean State Crossing is the newest race in The Summer Safe Ocean State Event Series.   Joining Waterman Eco-Challenge & Summer Safe Ocean State 5K/10K to round out a dynamic coastal recreation experience this summer!

The Shore House - Narragansett, The Break - Narragansett, Atlantic House - Narragansett, Scarborough Beach Motel - Narragansett, Hampton Inn - South Kingstown, Fairfield Inn - South Kingstown, Holiday Inn - South Kingstown, Shepards Run - South Kingstown.  Many Bed & Breakfasts in Narragansett, Jamestown, Newport.

Weather Postponement Date:

All Participants Commit To:

• Transport Driver & Vehicle to Drop & Pick Up at Endpoints

• Commit To $600 Fundraising In Addition To Registration Fee

• Follow All USCG & RIDEM Boating Safety Regulations Including:

• Must Carry USCG Approved Type I, II, III or V Wearable PFD & Tethering Leash For Paddle Boards

• Must Carry Sound Producing Device: Whistle or Horn

• Abide By All Navigational Rules

• Wear Bib Number & Race Jersey At All Times

Target Times:

• Start 06:30 am

• Finish Cutoff 11:00 am

• Timekeeping Vessel keeps all Challengers ahead of 4.5 hour cutoff time

• Point Judith - Roger Wheeler State Beach

• Newport - Fort Adams Boat Ramp, Public Beach

Challenger Crossing Crafts:

• Prone paddle boards, SUPs, Surfskis, Coastal Surf Boats & Ocean Kayaks.

• Launch 06:30 am Roger Wheeler State Beach

• Northern course across to Fort Adams, Newport Harbor

• Through Fort Adams Harbor mooring field

• Finish on Fort Adams Beach

• Conditions Adjusted Alternative:

• Launch 06:30 am Fort Adams Beach, Newport 

• Through mooring field, around Fort Adams Point

• Southern course across Point Judith Lighthouse

• Finish Fort Roger Wheeler State Beach
