The Grind 5K Run/Walk at Beck's Mill

The Grind is a rolling out and back road countryside race held in Washington County, Indiana with a steep "Grind" hill at the start.  (located approximately 5 miles south of Salem)

Race entry includes entry to historic Beck's Mill and grounds, including post-race breakfast and snacks. Participants will enjoy the quiet countryside, tours of the mill and learning history of the mill.  Relaxing post-race comfort can be found at the waterfall (dam) at the old mill.  (Race participants and their families receive free admission to the mill and hiking trails on race day!)

Finisher medals for the first 100 finishers.

Awards for the overall top 3 male & female run and walk finalists.  Timer will score via age groups.

This is a Mag 7 Race.  (please note if you register for the walk division, you are required to WALK the entire race; if you run, skip, hop, etc, for any portion of the race, please modify your registration to RUN)

Race fees: $25 with shirt or $20 without shirt, until August 30.  Race fee is $25 in September with no shirt guarantee.  (Shirts must be ordered by August 24, 2026, for guarantee.  Additional shirts might be available race day on a first-come basis)

All proceeds go to Friends of Beck's Mill.

Thank you for supporting Beck's Mill!  The Beck family built their first mill on this historic site in 1808.  Their third mill still remains. The mill once ground corn, small grains such as wheat and processed wool; all powered by water!   After setting idle for more than 50 years, the little grist mill south of Salem, Indiana is now churning out a product that once made it famous.  In 2008 Beck's Mill was returned in restored and operational condition to the directors of the Friends of Beck’s Mill, Inc. Beck’s Mill is operated solely by the efforts of an all volunteer staff and the leadership of Friends of Beck’s Mill, Inc. continues to enhance the visitor experience to Beck's Mill every year as numerous new events are planned every season.  The Grind 5K is the mill's largest annual fundraiser.
