From the Organizer
Where history, heart, and the Mother Road meet.
Welcome to Stop 8: Lexington, one of the most iconic and beloved towns along Illinois’ Route 66. Known for its charm, deep ties to the Mother Road, and the legendary Memory Lane, Lexington offers a backdrop that feels like stepping into the living heartbeat of Route 66 history.
This series stands in solidarity with Enric Casacuberta, who is running the entire Illinois stretch of Route 66 solo to honor those living with ALS. At each stop, participants join Enric for a 2.1‑mile shared “Sidekick” segment — a symbolic reminder that no one travels this road alone. Lexington is one of the most meaningful connection points, where past and present meet on the pavement.
