Every step adds to the collective mileage of supporters across Illinois as we follow the legendary Mother Road from Chicago to the Mississippi River.

Pontiac is a powerful connection point with Enric Casacuberta, who is running the entire Illinois stretch of Route 66 solo to honor those living with ALS. At each event, participants join Enric for a 2.1‑mile shared “Sidekick” segment — a symbolic reminder that he’s not taking this journey alone. Pontiac is one of those special meet‑up towns where community and purpose collide on the pavement.

With its murals, museums, and iconic Route 66 landmarks, Pontiac offers a vibrant backdrop for a run rooted in solidarity.
