From the Organizer
Join us in Pontiac for Stop 7 of the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 series — a 6.6K run/walk celebrating community, courage, and the unstoppable spirit of those living with ALS. Every step you take adds to the collective mileage of supporters across Illinois as we follow the legendary Mother Road from Chicago to the Mississippi River.
This stop also connects directly with Enric Casacuberta, who is running the entire Illinois stretch of Route 66 solo to honor those living with ALS. At each event, participants join Enric for a 2.1‑mile shared run — a symbolic “sidekick” segment that reminds him he’s not taking this journey alone. Pontiac is one of those powerful meet‑up points where community and purpose collide on the pavement.
Pontiac’s murals, museums, and Route 66 landmarks make this stop a standout — a perfect backdrop for a run rooted in solidarity.
