Upstate Race Series Sadlers Creek Stumble Sadlers Creek State Park · Anderson, SC

A fall trail running and camping experience for the whole family 🏕

  “

A 6.8-mile loop on a Lake Hartwell peninsula, gently winding through quiet woods, along lakeshore trails, and past cozy campsites. One lap for the 10K, two for the half, four for the marathon, or fifteen if you are taking on the 32 Hour. Tall pines, gentle lake breezes, campfires crackling as runners come in from long loops.

The loop is mostly trail — about 80% — with a sprinkle of gravel, pavement, and a dash of sand, and 380 feet of gain per lap spread across a few rolling hills on a wide, runnable surface. It is the sort of course that flatters a first ultra: nothing technical enough to hurt you, but enough terrain to make the distance feel earned.

The camping is a real part of this one, not an afterthought. Book a lakefront site through the park, or take primitive tent and car camping in the adjacent parking lot right next to the course, about 150 meters from the main trailhead. Hot post-run soup, pancakes, and campfire camaraderie wait at the finish, along with music and a post-race hangout full of good vibes and great stories.
