From the Organizer
We can't wait to have another Run with Mae in person event!! There will still be a virtual option if you are not local, but would still like to support. There is an option to add a shirt to your sign up this year - very excited about that!!
Run with Mae is a race created to raise money for two very important organizations close to our hearts. When our daughter Brooklynn Mae was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November 2020. She completed treatment 2.5 years later and rang the bell on April 20, 2023. 14 months later in June 2024 her monthly blood work came back with some suspicious cells. We found out she now had two new cancers due to treatment for the first cancer. She went through multiple rounds of intense chemotherapy so get into remission for a bone marrow transplant. She had her bone marrow transplant on August 29, 2024. During this time we were connected with Fund a Life. They jumped right in to assist us, and we could not be more thankful.
With that being said, we would like to donate 75% of the proceeds to Fund a Life so they can do the same for another family or two or three. The other 25% of the proceeds will go to creating care packages for the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital Pediatric Oncology floor inpatient families. In the past we have done Visa gift cards for the families so they can spend it on whatever they need it for. Unfortunately we know all too well what it's like to be in the hospital for long inpatient stays and during holidays. Thank you!
We are hoping to have a spot set up with registration for Be The Match as well. More information on that will be included later on.
The race will be at a different location this year. It will be held at Scranton Middle School in Brighton. The 5K and Mile will both be completed on the track. We are so excited for this! There will be a raffle done after the race for multiple gift baskets put together with items from stores in downtown Brighton and other supporting businesses.
Please note: The shirts are an additional cost. We understand this may not be for everyone, but we appreciate any shirts bought because some of the proceeds from those will be added to our proceeds from the Run with Mae event.
Important Information: There will not be a timer for any of these events. Come have some fun, and support some amazing places.
