A fun and friendly morning FREE 5K on a course winding through the Hammel Woods Forest Preserve in Shorewood. This race will be professionally timed and the results will be posted online.
The race will start at 8:00 AM. The race will start near the hidden shelter of the park. Please use the entrance on Route 59/Brook Forest Road. Course marshals will be placed to guide participants and conduct Strollers and leashed pets are welcome. No rollerblades or skateboards please. There will be mile markers and one staffed water table on the course.
Directions/Parking: There are two entrances to Hammel Woods. Please enter using the entrance on Route 59 (554 Brook Forest Road). Since there is limited parking in this lot, we encourage car-pooling. Once this lot fills up, additional parking is available at one of the other parking areas in the preserve.
Water and sports drinks will be provided after the race. You may bring your own beverages to share with your family, friends, and fellow participants.
Race results will be posted online in overall and age group formats.
Every year the Free 5k benefits a different local school. This year’s beneficiary is Rockdale School in Rockdale, IL. You are encouraged to bring new school supplies for donation, and all money raised will go to the Rockdale Rams sports programs.
Please bring cash if you would like to purchase tickets for our raffle items or to make a donation towards our sponsored school.
