Paddle It! 2026 is a paddle race on August 29 – September 26, 2026 in Albemarle, NC.
From the Organizer
If you've ever wanted to try kayaking - this is for you! This series will occur beginning the last Saturday in August, skips Labor Day weekend and resumes through the remainder of Saturdays. We will meet near the boat house at Morrow Mountain to kayak on scenic Lake Tillery. You will have the opportunity to become familiar with the sport of kayaking with the use of a single person, sit on top kayak. Facilitators will offer tips and guidance around entering/exiting your kayak and how to paddle properly. Kayaks, paddles and safety gear will be provided. Participants who wish to participate and bring their own kayak are welcome and should register using the corresponding time slot labeled Paddle It - BYO Boat.
Space will be limited so we ask that only those who are committed to attend register.
Each Saturday, we will have a group launching at 8:30am. Please only register if you are committed to attending since space will be limited. Participants MUST be able to swim, a minimum of 16 years old and weigh no more than 300 lbs. Should all slots fill up, a waitlist will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

Paddle sports cover kayak, canoe, SUP, and outrigger racing on rivers, lakes, and open ocean — from short sprints to marathon distances, split by craft. The water and the weather are as much a part of the race as the field.
It's a full-body, low-impact way to race, where reading the water and a smooth, repeatable stroke matter as much as raw power.
