From the Organizer
This 5K Run/Walk has been planned to help raise awareness about depression and its sometimes fatal result… Suicide. This run/walk is in memory of Scott Hammersmith and those who have died by suicide. Come out to walk or run in memory of someone you have lost or to help spread the word so others are not lost. If you are committed to our message, but not quite ready for a 3.1 mile run or walk, we have measured an easy one mile walk at Defiance College. And, if you want to help, but can’t participate...simply make a donation in any amount.
Suicide should not be kept a secret. Depression is a treatable illness and depressive illnesses account for more than 90 percent of all suicide deaths. So please come out and let your steps help us raise awareness in our community.
