500Μ SWIM 20K BIKE 5K RUN
The triathlon will begin at 8am with a 500-meter swim in beautiful Lake Kickapoo. There will be separate wave starts for male and female, then a time trial start for those who prefer not to do a wave start. Athletes will then head out for a fast, two-loop, 20k bike course on smooth, mostly flat roads. The run leg will be a shaded, slightly rolling, out-and-back 5k.
The duathlon will start at the same time as the first wave of the triathlon, but with a 1-mile out-and-back run in place of the swim, then continuing on with the same 20k bike and 5k run as the triathlon.
This race is held completely within beautiful Shakamak State Park with little traffic, making it perfect for beginners. The good road surface and shaded run are ideal for those seeking a fast time. Water will be available on the run course. Snacks and drinks will be provided after the race.

From Endurance Grid
This race spans more than one sport — here’s a guide to each, so you can understand what’s involved and decide if it’s the right fit. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer’s event page.
Swim, bike, run — back to back. The sprint distance makes it far more accessible than most people think. Three sports in one race means three movements to train and race day never gets monotonous.
Run, bike, run. The multi-sport format without the swim. Two disciplines, one race — a great bridge between running and triathlon.
