From the Organizer
Get ready to race, celebrate, and be inspired at the JT-5000 5K, 1 Mile, and Kids K on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Expo New Mexico! This special event honors the legacy of Joe Tassone—a retired Air Force E-9 Master Sergeant and beloved local running coach who dedicated nearly two decades to mentoring and inspiring runners throughout the community.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just looking for a fun, family-friendly event, the JT-5000 has something for everyone. Choose from the Team Red, White, and Blue 5K, the Aim High 1 Mile, or take on the ultimate challenge with the One Medal Combo—where you’ll run both races and earn a combined time (and serious bragging rights!). In addition to bragging rights, the One Medal Combo is offering a $400 winner-take-all prize for the first place male and female competitors. Younger runners can join the excitement in the Kids K, making this a perfect event for all ages and abilities.
All races take place within the grounds of Expo New Mexico, offering flat, fast courses designed for speed, safety, and confidence. No traffic, no crowded intersections—just a smooth racing experience ideal for beginners and seasoned runners alike.
Even better, your participation supports a powerful mission. The JT-5000 proudly partners with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, honoring first responders and military heroes while helping carry forward their legacy of service and sacrifice.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of a meaningful, high-energy race day that brings the community together. Lace up, show up, and run with purpose at the JT-5000!
