From the Organizer
Great news; We are offering a second Stride to 5K program this summer. This program is designed for those looking to transition from walking to running a 5K. The program is structured for beginning runners or those who are returning to running. It involves a mix of walking and running gradually increasing to running a 5K distance. It's a low stress method that helps avoid injury and gain confidence. The program is beginner friendly, non-intimidating and ideal for those new to running or returning to runnings.
Running can be a great workout and running with the Badgerland Striders is a social way to run. This summer's program will run 8 weeks. The program will complete just prior to the Lakefront 5K to be held on October 3rd. 2026. You may want to select this as your goal or any other event of your choosing.
The Stride to 5k Program kicks off on Thursday August 6th at 6:30pm. We will meet weekly on Thursday evenings at the Hales Corners Library in the lower level Ben Hunt Room and conclude on Thursday May 28th. Each meeting will feature a group run and a discussion with established runners, physical therapists, personal trainers, and other running related topics. The group runs will be split into multiple groups based on pace and lead by experienced runners. We will use a run/walk approach to build up your distance. The plan will have one weekly group run and two runs for you to complete on your own. The goal of the program is to give you the confidence to complete a 5K distance and enjoy the experience.
