From the Organizer
On behalf of IAFF Local 574, we would like to invite you to Savannah's fourth Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. This is a non-profit event that will be held on Sunday September 6, 2026 at the Enmarket Arena. The event will start at 9:00am. We will begin with a brief opening ceremony followed by the start of the climb at 9:15am. The stair climb will conclude once the last participant completes 110 flights. We will have mild refreshments and encourage participants to gather after the event at another location TBD downtown. First responders are welcomed to wear their gear or a weighted vest during the climb.
The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is to honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles on that tragic day. First responders, military, civilians, children, and all of those affected by this heartbreaking event 25 years ago are encouraged to join us.
· The event is FREE but you can make donations which will go to the Savannah Firefighters Union Foundation. Donations can be made via runsignup.
· You DO NOT have to be a first responder to participate! Everyone is welcome to join us for this humbling event to honor the fallen.
· Athletic wear, duty uniforms, bunker gear, and weighted vests are all encouraged but not required.
· We will provide water and snacks throughout the event.
· To complete 110 flights, we will make 2 laps around the arena (areas to climb up & down with be marked off). We will finish with a short section of the lower-level stairs. This will total 2200 steps (or 110 flights).
· There will be registration open the morning of the climb from 8:00am-8:45am.
· We will promptly start at 9:00am.
· Parking will be at the arena.
We do have sponsorship opportunities available! If interested, contact Mike Thompson or Tyler Barrett at savannahstairclimb@gmail.com for more information.
