From the Organizer
RunVermont's mission is to support running as a lifelong activity by producing exceptional events and programs that engage our community and celebrate the athletic spirit. RunVermont endeavors to start this support early by offering free youth races throughout the year and through its Mini Milers program.
Mini Milers gives elementary school children access to fitness, good nutrition, community service and goal setting, all while having fun and being safe. Children meet weekly with Mini Miler leaders to get motivated, get educated, get some exercise, and keep track of their progress.
Mini Milers are not required to participate in RunVermont's Memorial Day Weekend Youth Events, which include the M&T Bank Vermont City Two Mile and the Mini Marathon, but the majority of Mini Milers, along with several hundred other youth, choose to. While it does cost money to participate in these youth events, RunVermont does not want a registration fee to be a barrier to any youth participating and offers scholarship entries upon request.
Help us support creating the space for kids to learn about being healthy and active at an early age so that they will go on to have a lifelong love of running and staying active.
